In the inaugural year of the EFFL, the Rebel Yell started off the season with a 6-1 record. At the half way point of the season, they looked like a shoo-in for the post season. Then came a disappointing second half which left the Yell with a 7-6-1 regular season record. The Yell was not an overwhelming offensive team. They relied on consistency and defense to win. Always averaging around 20 points became an issue as the Yell couldn't squeak out the close games as the playoffs loomed. Luckily their luck held out and their record was good enough to advance to the post season play.

In the post season, the Rebel Yell were matched up against two powerful offenses. Luckily those offenses didn't show up in the playoffs and the Yell came out of both defensive battles with the wins. They beat the Critters in my Beer team coached by Tom Luecke in Superbowl I to become the first champions of the EFFL.
