Stones River Battlefield
September 7, 2004 - On the way back from the annual Labor Day Chicago trip, I took a few days vacation by myself and detoured down through Kentucky and Tennessee to visit many of the battlefields that I have read so much about over the years. Here are some of the pictures that I took during my trip.

Slaughter Pen

Some of the heaviest fighting occurred in the area known as the Slaughter Pen. This view looking west from the woods.

Broken Artillery

The woods east of the slaughter pen contained rough terrain that disabled artillery and caissons.
