Sailor's Creek Battlefield
September 10, 2004 - On the way back from the annual Labor Day Chicago trip, I took a few days vacation by myself and detoured down through Kentucky and Tennessee to visit many of the battlefields that I have read so much about over the years. Here are some of the pictures that I took during my trip.

I always wanted to visit the battlefield called Sailor's/Saylor's/Sayler's Creek because of my family name. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed when I finally got my wish. The battlefield consists of 1 monument, 3 signs, and one old house. Not what I expected for such an important event in the last days of the Army of Northern Virginia.

The remains of the Confederate forces retreated back up this hill and marched to Appomattox Court House.
